About Us

Our first restaurant opened its doors in March 2006 and quickly became a massive success on the Sunderland restaurant scene. We set off with the simple philosophy that if we gave the customer what they wanted then they would return, and lets face it, without you we would have no business. But the good news is we are still trading, still have the same simple philosophy and have become one of the busiest and best restaurants in the north east.

Our second restaurant in Seaham was born in May 2008 and is quickly following in the footsteps of it’s Seaburn sister branch. The Seaham site benefits from a large function suite lavishly decorated in regency style and is proving popular as a wedding venue and corporate venue.

Since opening, Martino’s restaurant has grown organically, during which time we have developed our style of food, our wine list and our unique ambience. Our customers, many of whom have been with us since the start, have been our best critics, and have always told us about what they really think about the changes we make. This is because they feel it is their place as well as ours, and that’s the way we like it.

AL MARTINO
Al Martino, born Alfred Cmi on the 7th of October 1927, made his singing debut over 40 years ago in Philadelphia with the song "Here is my Heart",

The song instantaniously sold over one million copies. With this ballad Mr Martino became the first Italian - American artist to hit number one in the British "Singles Charts" during 1952, putting him into the Guinness book of world records.

Another smash hit for Mr Martino was the Megaseller Volare. In I 976 this catchy tune reached No.1 in the Italian and Belgian charts and was a top ten hit in most other European countries, Mr Martino also proved himself as a talented actor in the 1972 epic movie "The Godfather" playing the much sought after role of singer Johnny Fontane.

For over four decades Martino has continued to deliver songs to the public in his own imitable style. Now in his eighties, Mr Martino is still delivering overwhelming performances world-wide.

When questioned about the secret of his long and successful life, Martino replied:

"Good food, Good wine and Good company"
